TREAT YOURSELF: GIFT IDEAS FOR YOU

Ok, we all know it’s “better to give than to receive”, right? But sometimes we like to cheat and do both giving AND receiving at the same time! Sure you won’t complain about another gift card to Olive Garden, but after all the time you’ve spent thinking of others, it’s nice to know there will be a little something special there waiting for you under the tree. So here are the pieces we are coveting, daily luxuries that will put a smile on your face each morning. Don’t forget to go all the way with this little self-Santa cheat: wrap it nicely with a bow, and tag it with pride. “To: Me, From: Me“. We like to hide ours behind the tree and “find” it last. Cheers to you!

SELF SANTA LITTLE LUXURIES LIST

A place for everything and everything in it’s place: keys, watch, wallet, earrings, phone… Where is my mind? Sitting pretty inside a gorgeous catchall crafted from a unique slab of viola marble. Perfection.

Confession time: our salt and pepper game is loose. We dread the moment we’ve plated food for friends and family and they take that first bite and look around for… the cheapy salt and pepper shakers we snagged on the way out of the grocery store. Eek. We’re better than this (we think)! Time to earn that seat at the grown-up table.

We love pillar and taper candles to set a dramatic mood during the evenings. But during the day we use scented candles to set the vibe in our studio. A signature scent relays something about a place without saying a word. And while we are always a sucker for anything Diptyque and Le Labo, right now we are feeling this floral magic from Overose. It’s clean and light, and the kaleidoscopic container is a little dose of summer in the cold, gray winter months.

If your morning ritual begins like ours – with mandatory caffeination before any and all human interaction – you’ve probably dropped a few of mugs over the years, leaving you with a hodge-podge “set” of coffee mugs. If everyone in your household is always looking for the “good” mugs before getting stuck with the ancient cups with stains and chips along the rim, hit the reset button and caffeinate in style with these handmade, matte beauties from Roman and Williams Guild.

Anyone else grow tired of placing coasters under guest’s drinks, or cringe each time someone slides a rough ceramic across your table? Ok, maybe that’s just us. But you don’t need an excuse to be “fancy” everyday, right? Maybe you just like playing with the hem under the table. Oh, that’s just us too? Ha. Either way, we’re here for fancy time. The charm of the Orkney tablecloth is its texture, which comes from the old looms. Which makes this the perfectly imperfect piece that works for every occasion.

Chances are you wash your hands so many times a day that you lose count. Make this ritual something you look forward to every time with this delicious hand soap from cult favorite perfumer Le Labo. Being clean has never smelled so good.

We are in love with linen bedding. The soft, crinkled, “messy” fabric just calls our name. Year round, from cozy chilly nights spent indoors watching movies in bed, to hot evenings with the covers kicked off, (and everything in-between), the sturdy fabric is your best friend. We have more sets than we can count, and yet there is nothing like opening a brand new, crisp set. Our current crush is this perfect set from Parachute. Live freely like our European friends, no top sheet necessary!

The one throw to rule them all. Woven in Portugal with the highest quality heavyweight linen, this throw is both cozy and beautiful. Choose your favorite stripes and get your hygge life on.

Anyone who’s ever tried to photograph tapered candles can identify with the maddening struggle to get the candles to stand straight up and stay straight. “Just stay dammit!” Enter the crafty people at Glaze Studios who’ve solved our most vexing problem forever with their U Candle. The hand poured, dual burning candle is made of 100% white beeswax, and is secured in place by a solid brass holder, which wraps atop the candle’s lofted base. Simplicity defined.

First things first, do not use this beautiful piece of kitchen art as an actual cutting board. Ok? Secondly, snap yours up before they are sold out. Each wavy board is handcrafted in a small workshop using reclaimed maple and cherry wood. Which means who knows how much longer this design will be available! But with regular oiling, you can keep this pretty piece in your serving rotation for years to come. Perfect for pastries, cheeses, etc. Or just lean it against your backsplash and admire throughout the day as we do.
